Oud and agarwood are essentially the same. The term "oud" is the Arabic word for agarwood, a resinous wood prized for its intense fragrance. "Al oud" in Arabic literally means "the wood." "Dhan Al oud" refers to oud oil, a concentrated version used in perfumes and other aromatic creations; it literally translates as "oud of the wood."
